A- Establishment :

The Lebanese Phalanges, division of Mazraat Yachouh, established the Dispensary of Mazraat Yachouh in 1977. It provided the villagers with health & medical care during the Lebanese War.

Doctors and nurses worked together to give people help. Some of the doctors were:

Nehme Mansour, Mansour Yammine, Georges Ammar, Adib Tohme, Noura Zeinoun, Joseph Mouawad, Herbert Pretsky, Elie Mouawad, Haroutian Sabounjian & Michel Chahine.

B- Investment Authorization Of A Charitable Dispensary :

The Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh sought to have a permit allowing it to endow a charitable dispensary.

According to the investment demand of The Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh on May 30, 1990, the permit was given on July 18, 1990 under the number 90/386.

Some of the terms that must be obeyed are:

- Only specialist medical doctors registered in the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs are to work on their own responsibility in this dispensary. The dispensary provides gratis treatments.

- At least one registered nurse is to be working with the staff.

- The dispensary is to make contract with a registered pharmacist to whom the preparation of medication is assigned. It is then the responsibility of the chairman of the dispensary to distribute medications.

- A doctor assisted by a committee is in charge of the technical works of the dispensary. The committee is composed of 8 members assigned by the president of the Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh. It runs the affairs of the municipal dispensary.

C- The New Building Of The Dispensary :

At first, The Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh consecrated some rooms of the building it occupies to be used by the Dispensary. Thus the reception hall was used by both of the Municipality and the Dispensary.

But the committee of the Dispensary had always sought to buy an appropriate location.

In accordance with the Municipality and with the support of the people of Mazraat Yachouh, the committee was able at last to buy an apartment in the building facing The Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh.

Few interior changes were made to the apartment and then equipped to become the new center of the Dispensary.

The elected Board of the Municipality inaugurated it.

The architect Chaker Semaan el Hakim helped the committee at that time to supervise the execution of the interior architectural work and setting the required equipment in the new center.

The new equipped Dispensary is composed of:

- A waiting room and an information office;

- A restroom for patients;

- A meeting hall;

- An office for the doctors with a kitchen and a restroom;

- A small laboratory and a pharmacy;

- A depot;

- 3 medical examination rooms, one with a restroom;

- An exterior hall suitable for seminars and celebrations;

D- Medical Services : 

The Dispensary offers today the following services:

- Examinations of all- medical specializations;

- Cardiography;

- Laboratory tests;

- Physiotherapy;

- An organized program to distribute chronic disease treatments with the help of the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA);

- Medical vaccinations approved by the Ministry Of Health.

E- The Successive Committees :(After 17-07-1990, the date when the permit was given)

On 21-07-1990, a  committee was assigned :

The committee held meetings and decisions were made. One of them was to establish an interior regulation for the Dispensary. Decisions and nominations were ascertained by the entrusted District Commissioner (Quaimmaquam) Mr. Khalil NASREDDINE, as chargé d’affaires of the Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh on July 30, 1990.

The municipal decision number 59 relative to the Dispensary Committee was amended on August 07, 1990 according to the municipal decision MD number 79 on Nov. 12, 1990:

On May, 1991, the Interior Regulation of the Dispensary was set and on May 23, 1991, it was ascertained.

According to the MD number 12 on Feb. 02, 1993, a new committee was assigned:

- Mrs. Laudi Abdo El HAWAT

- Mrs. Andrée Edward DAOU

- Mr. Toufic Naoum MOUFAWAD was assigned by the Municipality as a controller.

According to the MD number 41 on Feb. 25, 1997, a new committee was assigned:

According to the MD number 135 on Aug. 25, 2003, a new committee was assigned:

- Mrs. Janine KHALIL - In charge of relations with medical institutions

- Mrs. Amal MENHEM -  In charge of personnel department

- Miss Sharifeh MALLAH - Accounting and financial & official reports

- Mr. Joseph Assaf HEBBOU - Representative of the municipality at the committee.

F- Resource of Finances :

- Financial & in kind contributions from the Municipality of Mazraat Yachouh;

- Financial support from the parish: half of the money given as a chaplet when someone dies used to be offered to the dispensary;

- Donation money especially from the people of Mazraat Yachouh;
