The parish is the group of believers who live in a specific geographic region. The first people who came some 500 years ago to Mazraat-Yachouh - “located formerly in the Maronite Diocese of Cyprus and since August 8, 1988 in the Maronite Diocese of Antelias”- built Saint Maroun church, known today as “the old church”. In 1814, due to the increased numbers of residents and families, the villagers built another church, bigger than the first one, and close to which they built cemeteries, known as "The Disciples of St Maroun Church". It is the present church of the parish. It was repaired many times and restored twice, in 1993 and in the fifties - according to what people say since the oldest document of the parish goes to 1920, because the division of the church, where the documents were kept, was burnt several times.
Several priests took the parish in charge:
It is today in the good care of Father Roukoz Barrak. Back to top |
