Due to the Lebanese war, many found M Y a safe place to their families; they bought lands and houses and M Y developed into a bigger village with an urgent need for a bigger church since the residents number grew enormously in a few years and many went to masses.

The Finance Committee coordinated with some of the village’s architects to find possible and required solutions. They came up with the idea to build a “new parish compound”.

After considering the idea, a real estate nearby the present church was chosen to make the dream come true.

On February 9, 1996, the project was announced.

The plans was set by Chaker El Hakim, the architect, in the cooperation with some others.

It is composed of:

- A modern church that can join up to 1000 persons;

- An equipped and Multipurpose hall that can gather up to 2000 persons, with the possibility to turn it into a theatre;

- A room for funerals;

- An equipped room for meetings and seminars;

- A hall for exhibitions;

- A library, and an audio- visual equipped room;

- A cafeteria and a kitchen;

- A house for the priest;

- Offices;

- Restrooms;

- Depots;

- A Parking.

The parishioners approved of the idea.

And after having the consent of the Archbishop youssef beshara, and despite the fact that there was no sufficient money, the work began on March 14, 1996. The solidarity and the support of the parishioners helped begin building the new compound; they all contributed, in a way or another, in building it.

The site became a place of meetings. Swiftly and with less cost, they finished digging and soon began building the new hall.

The dream turned into a reality and the parish celebrated the First Communion of 60 children on May 17, 1997.

In spite of financial difficulties and the economic crisis that the Lebanese citizens are going through, the work continued.

The Finance Committee makes a lot of activities to raise money for the new project. Through correspondence, the Diocese of Augsburg- Germany, donated 10,000$, not counting the donations of parishioners inside or outside the parish as well as the donations of the Municipality of M Y.

The new and large hall that was constructed gathered people to celebrate masses.

M. Nabil Lahhoud equipped the hall with air conditioning tools. The hall is also equipped with sound systems. The work is now concentrated on building the kitchen and setting the ventilation as well as finishing the floor covering.
